Is WebVR accessible?
One of the shortcomings of virtual reality is that it has no accessibility standards. Screenreaders are able to process text on a web page - no such tools yet exist for 3D environments. However, WebVR has the ability to interactively render both textual and environmental content.
This live experiment is to test my assumptions about bidirectional interactions in mobile WebVR. By reactively switching between motion, gesture, voice and text input, I hope to discover opportunities to advance the web platform. My vision is of a 3D "browsing" interface with a web based "reading" interface.
Ideas
- Vibrate on cursor, speech/sound on fuse
- Components with HATEOAS architectured content
- Google Cardboard compatible HUD
My focus is on gamification without exploitation. If you're trying to get in touch with me about something else, please email: piers@piersmana.com
